MatchWho are we? People just like you. We who created this site have spent most of our lives in an academic environment. We learned firsthand (especially as graduate students) that life for some can be a little isolated within the walls of a university. Maybe some of us just get too focused on our research or our studies. Anyway, once upon a time, a few of us tried a few of the big, commercial online dating websites. We did not like them. We learned pretty quickly that the primary goal of these other websites, at least as we inferred from their policies and practices, was to make money, not to help people find relationship partners or lead richer, happier lives. We were quite displeased by this discovery. We thought that subscribers to these online dating services deserved better. A lot better. So we decided to build our own online dating website, one that: truly serves the best interests of its users; places paramount importance on the fulfillment of people's desire for companionship rather than on profit; and provides the best online dating experience possible. Then we took it one step further: we created a site specifically for the community that we most wanted to serve and thought we could best serve. StanfordMatch.com was thus born.
We started this venture with virtually no business or marketing
experience and just a little bit of relevant programming experience.
